Abstract

The role of university graduates’ digital competences in their professional careers was analyzed using the Digital Competence Framework for Citizen 2.2. The study was conducted in Ukraine, where a significant share of employment during the war is remote (or at least hybrid), requiring the posession and continuous improvement of digital competences. The results are based on a sociological survey of 397 graduates under the age of 35 with professional experience ranging from one year to more than ten years in labor market. To understand career success, respondents were divided into groups: employees in non-managerial positions, middle managers, top managers, and unemployed. The analysis revealed that university education has a significant impact on the formation of digital competences – greater progress occurs during university studies rather than at workplaces. Higher career success (top management positions) is characteristic of respondents with better-developed digital competences, particularly in digital data management, information evaluation, digital communication, and creative use of technology.
